French budget deficit to overshoot at 3.2 pct in 2017 - TF1, citing audit office

PARIS, June 26 (Reuters) - France's public deficit could stand at 3.2 percent in 2017, once again above the EU limit of 3 percent, broadcaster TF1 said on Monday, citing information from the national audit office.

Earlier in June, France's central bank said that public finances were on course for a deficit of 3.1 percent of economic output this year, higher than the 2.8 percent predicted by the previous government.

TF1 said that national audit officials, who will publish a review of estimates on Thursday, anticipated the deficit would be at 3.2 percent this year. "We shall see on Thursday," Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told TF1. "The only thing I can confirm is that if we don't do anything before the end of the year, then we will not meet our European commitments."
