US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St rises modestly following Yellen speech

NEW YORK, Aug 25 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks mostly rose slightly on Friday, lifted by high-dividend paying stocks, after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen stayed silent on monetary policy in a much-anticipated speech.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 31.71 points, or 0.15 percent, to 21,815.11, the S&P 500 gained 4.26 points, or 0.17 percent, to 2,443.23 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.68 points, or 0.09 percent, to 6,265.64. (Reporting by Chuck Mikolajczak; Editing by James Dalgleish)
