(Adds details on UPS operations)
Aug 31 (Reuters) - United Parcel Service Inc said on Thursday it has resumed operations in Austin and some parts of Corpus Christi, Texas, that were halted due to Hurricane Harvey, though they were still closed in the Houston area.
The Atlanta-based company, has restored service to more than 150 zip codes and would continue to resume operations in affected communities as it was safe to do so, UPS spokesman Matt O'Connor said.
UPS, the world's largest package delivery company, closed operations and ceased delivery to huge swaths of Texas and Louisiana as Hurricane Harvey barreled down on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The company closed facilities in Austin, northwest of Houston, and Corpus Christi, along the coast, before Harvey made landfall, O'Connor said. (Reporting by Eric M. Johnson in Seattle; Editing by Cynthia Osterman and Paul Simao)
