Brazil may raise 2017 growth forecast to around 1 pct -Meirelles

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 6 (Reuters) - The Brazilian government may increase its forecast for 2017 economic growth to around 1 percent from 0.5 percent, Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles said on Wednesday, after several indicators exceeded expectations.

Gross domestic product (GDP) rose more than expected in the second quarter, suggesting Latin America's largest economy is gaining momentum as it emerges from its deepest recession on record. (Reporting by Rodrigo Viga Gaier; Writing by Bruno Federowski; Editing by Jonathan Oatis)
