ON BOARD AIR FORCE ONE, Sept 6 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he had agreed on a three-month increase in the U.S. debt ceiling with congressional leaders that would include hurricane relief funding for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma approaching Florida.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump also expressed optimism that Congress would find a permanent solution to help young immigrants who came to the United States illegally as children after his administration announced it would halt a program that allowed them to stay in the country.
I think theyre going to make a deal. I think Congress really wants to do this, Trump said.
Id like to see something where we have good border security and we have a great DACA transaction where everybody is happy and now they dont have to worry about it anymore, Trump said, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
