China lifts yuan midpoint, reflecting dollar weakness

SHANGHAI, Sept 15 (Reuters) - China's central bank lifted its official yuan midpoint slightly to 6.5423 per dollar on Friday.

The midpoint was 42 pips or 0.06 percent stronger than Thursday's fix of 6.5465, reflecting broad dollar moves overnight more than the spot yuan performance a day earlier, traders said.

The dollar lost ground against a basket of major currencies on Thursday even though data that showed a faster-than-forecast increase in domestic consumer prices boosted generally depressed expectations for another U.S. rate hike later this year.
