France's 2018 budget built on 1.7 pct growth forecast - minister

PARIS, Sept 18 (Reuters) - France's budget minister confirmed on Monday that the 2018 budget to be presented next week would be based on an economic growth forecast of 1.7 percent.

"In the coming years, it will be 1.7 percent, we hope to do better, but we are exactly in the middle of what economists expect," Gerald Darmanin told BFM TV.

He also said that growth would be estimated at 1.7 percent this year, marginally revising up the government's forecast from 1.6 percent previously. (Reporting by Leigh Thomas; Editing by Sudip Kar-Gupta)
