First Bancorp reports 3Q loss

SANTURCE, Puerto Rico (AP) _ First Bancorp (FBP) on Monday reported a third-quarter loss of $11.4 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The bank, based in Santurce, Puerto Rico, said it had a loss of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 13 cents per share.

The holding company for FirstBank Puerto Rico posted revenue of $166.6 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $141.5 million.

First Bancorp shares have fallen 22 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $5.15, a rise of almost 5 percent in the last 12 months.
