Farmer Brothers reports 1Q loss

NORTHLAKE, Texas (AP) _ Farmer Brothers Co. (FARM) on Tuesday reported a fiscal first-quarter loss of $978,000, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Northlake, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 3 cents per share.

The coffee and tea company posted revenue of $131.7 million in the period.

Farmer Brothers shares have decreased 11 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $32.75, a climb of slightly more than 1 percent in the last 12 months.
