Iamgold beats 3Q profit forecasts

TORONTO (AP) _ Iamgold Corp. (IAG) on Tuesday reported third-quarter profit of $30.8 million.

The Toronto-based company said it had net income of 7 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 2 cents per share.

The gold and niobium mining company posted revenue of $268.8 million in the period.

Iamgold shares have risen 49 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 45 percent in the last 12 months.
