Chesapeake Utilities beats 3Q profit forecasts

DOVER, Del. (AP) _ Chesapeake Utilities Corp. (CPK) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $6.8 million.

The Dover, Delaware-based company said it had net income of 42 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 35 cents per share.

The energy and utility company posted revenue of $126.9 million in the period.

Chesapeake Utilities shares have climbed 20 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 33 percent in the last 12 months.
