Telus misses 3Q profit forecasts

BURNABY, British Columbia (AP) _ Telus Corp. (TU) on Thursday reported third-quarter earnings of $292.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Burnaby, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 49 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 52 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The telecommunications company posted revenue of $2.68 billion in the period, beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.66 billion.

Telus shares have climbed 16 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 15 percent in the last 12 months.
