Also rejoining the firm from Hogan Lovells is Jennifer L. Porter, who has been named partner in the Health Sciences Department. Bushey and Porter will be resident in the Philadelphia office.
Bushey has a deep background in life sciences, including serving as vice president and deputy general counsel for West Pharmaceutical Services. In her practice, she represents public and private life sciences companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, complex divestitures, capital markets transactions, securities law compliance, corporate governance and collaboration agreements.
The additions of Bushey and Porter strengthen the attorney ranks in Pepper’s Health Sciences Department, a multidisciplinary practice that serves clients across the health care spectrum.
“We are very pleased to welcome Rachael back to the firm,” said Nina M. Gussack, chair of Pepper’s Health Sciences Department. “Both her colleagues and her clients are delighted that she has rejoined our team.”
Bushey initially joined Pepper in 2005 as an associate. From 2010 to 2014, she served as vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary for West Pharmaceutical Services in Exton, Pa. She was named a partner of Pepper Hamilton in 2014.
“Pepper’s innovative approach to industry attracted me back to the firm,” said Bushey. “The firm’s integrated approach to solving the complex business challenges faced by clients in the life sciences industry is exactly what our clients need.”
Thomas M. Gallagher, chair of the firm’s Executive Committee and a member of the leadership team of the Health Sciences Department, noted that the firm’s newest additions are the latest in a line of exciting lateral hires.
“In the last six months, the majority of our laterals have been successful and dynamic women,” he said. “In addition, four of our laterals have returned to Pepper, having worked here earlier in their careers. Pepper continues to attract top legal talent.”
Other recent additions to the firm include Lisa D. Kabnick, senior advisor in the Commercial Department; Kathryn Pourmand Nordick, partner in the Financial Services Practice Group; Deborah Spranger, partner in the Health Sciences Department; Rebecca Alperin, of counsel in the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group; and Rachel Mynhier, of counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group.

The firm also received top honors for several transactions, including “Healthcare Services Deal of the Year” and “U.S.A. Growth Equity Investment Deal of the Year.”
