Quebec projects 2017-2018 surplus of C$2.2 bln, unveils tax cuts

TORONTO, Nov 21 (Reuters) - The Canadian province of Quebec projected a C$2.2 billion budget surplus for the fiscal year ending next March and unveiled new tax cuts in its fiscal update on Tuesday.

Quebec, Canada's second most populous province, posted a C$4.4 billion surplus in the previous fiscal year, thanks to lowered spending and an increase in tax revenues. The government said that surplus, twice what it had forecast, enabled it to cut taxes in the upcoming fiscal year. (Reporting by Kevin Dougherty; Editing by Tom Brown)
