MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dungarvin Inc. announced the acquisition of Aspen Community Living effective December 4, 2017. Aspen was a highly respected provider in Ohio and Kentucky founded in 2001 to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“I have been very impressed with Aspen’s quality of services and supports. They have shown excellence in the relationships they have developed with the people to whom they provide supports, as well as their employees and leadership team,” stated Dan Griffin, Regional Director for the East region. “Our goal is to continue Aspen’s focus on community integration, providing the same level of supports and improving services wherever possible.”
In Ohio, the newly acquired services provide residential and day program supports to approximately 140 individuals. This expands Dungarvin Ohio, LLC’s reach across the state significantly, adding new offices in Cleveland, Akron, Dayton, and Cincinnati. Aspen also maintained a large office and day services site in Columbus. The current Dungarvin Ohio office in Columbus and Aspen’s location will eventually merge together.
“We are so thrilled to be able to bring Aspen into the Dungarvin family. I have long known Aspen’s day program in Columbus to be of high quality and focused on each individual’s needs. They truly have a great reputation,” stated Sara Eppard, Dungarvin Ohio State Director. “It has been very exciting to meet the rest of the Aspen management and direct support professional teams across Ohio over the last number of weeks. When you get connected with people who share the same values and passion for supporting individuals with disabilities, the sky becomes the limit as to what we can accomplish together.”
Furthermore, with this acquisition, Dungarvin will expand services and supports into its fifteenth state as Dungarvin Kentucky, LLC. Aspen’s offices included a main office in Florence, with smaller offices in Louisville, Somerset, and Pikeville resulting in Dungarvin Kentucky conducting business in a broad geographic segment of the state. Dungarvin Kentucky has assumed services for approximately 150 individuals, in both residential and day program supports.
Dungarvin offered positions to approximately 120 Aspen employees in Kentucky and 160 employees in Ohio. Most of those employees chose to join the Dungarvin team, including the majority of persons in leadership/management positions. Due to the retention of the large number of Aspen employees, Dungarvin anticipates the transition of services to be seamless for the persons receiving supports. Dan Griffin added, “While we expect the few changes in this transition to be visible to the people we serve or their families, over the next year we will implement several new technologies that will focus on taking documentation, health and programmatic outcomes, as well as quality oversight, to a new level.”
Dungarvin Inc. is excited to welcome the staff and supported individuals, and is eager to embrace them within their mission of Respecting and Responding to the Choices of People in Need of Supports.
