Comtech reports 1Q loss

MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) _ Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (CMTL) on Wednesday reported a loss of $1.7 million in its fiscal first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Melville, New York-based company said it had a loss of 7 cents.

The communications company posted revenue of $121.6 million in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $106.6 million.

Comtech expects full-year earnings to be 44 cents to 46 cents per share, with revenue in the range of $550 million to $575 million.

Comtech shares have increased 80 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $21.31, a climb of 78 percent in the last 12 months.
