Italy PM says 2017 economic growth to beat 1.5 pct target

ROME, Dec 8 (Reuters) - The Italian economy is set to exceed the government's growth target of 1.5 percent for this year and should come in closer to 2 percent, Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni said on Friday.

Speaking at a conference in Rome, he also welcomed a divorce deal between Britain and the European Union which paves the way for talks on trade. (Reporting by Guiseppe Fonte; Editing by Mark Bendeich)
