Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg are locked in a space race — just last week Muilenburg told CNBC that Boeing will beat Elon Musk's SpaceX to Mars. Musk took to Twitter with his response: "Do it."
Yesterday, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos fired his own figurative warning shot. He shared a video to Twitter of of Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket as it successfully completed its first flight with the newest generation of its passenger unit, the Crew Capsule 2.0.
The Crew Capsule 2.0 boasts windows that are 2.4 feet wide and 3.6 feet tall, making them "the largest windows in space," according to Bezos.
The capsule safely transported an instrumented test dummy, dubbed "Mannequin Skywalker." At over 250,000 feet, the capsule successfully separated from the booster and parachuted down separately, landing at a gentle speed of just one mile per hour.
According to Bezos, Mannequin Skywalker "had a great ride."
