China sets yuan mid-point at strongest for more than 2 years

SHANGHAI, Jan 23 (Reuters) - China's central bank on Tuesday set its official yuan midpoint at 6.4009 per dollar, its strongest level for more than two-years, supported by gains in the spot yuan a day earlier.

The midpoint was 103 pips, or 0.16 percent, firmer than Monday's fix of 6.4112 and was the strongest since Dec. 7, 2015.

China's spot yuan finished its domestic session at an over two-year high against the U.S. dollar on Monday. (Reporting by Winni Zhou and John Ruwitch; Editing by Simon Cameron-Moore)
