March 2 (Reuters) - The United States is the world's biggest steel importing nation, buying 35.6 million tonnes of the building raw material in 2017.

U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to impose a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum in a bid to protect American jobs. But other countries have threatened with retaliatory actions, fueling fears of a global trade war.
