Donaldson reports 2Q loss

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Donaldson Co. (DCI) on Tuesday reported a fiscal second-quarter loss of $52.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Minneapolis-based company said it had a loss of 40 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax expenses, were 43 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 44 cents per share.

The maker of filtration systems posted revenue of $664.7 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $629.6 million.

Donaldson expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.93 to $2.01 per share.

Donaldson shares have declined almost 4 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 4 percent in the last 12 months.
