American Eagle meets 4Q profit forecasts

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) on Thursday reported fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $94 million.

The Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of 52 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 44 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 44 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $1.23 billion in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.2 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $204.2 million, or $1.13 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.8 billion.

American Eagle shares have risen slightly more than 9 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 42 percent in the last 12 months.
