Bezos divorced sparking discussions. This zillionaire tweeted this news, the tweet says:
"As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends. We fell incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other, if we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again, we have had such a great life together as a married couple, and we also see wonderful futures ahead, as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures. Though the labels might be different, we remain a family, and we remain cherished friends" the tweet says.
And this former couple will continue to work on DAY ONE FUND, the charitable fund launched last year.
Their marriage was described as a good story by the outside world. Both of them graduated from Princeton University, met in a meeting room of an investment funds in NYK, Bezos recalled that when I saw her, I think she is pretty and smart, then MacKenziey went after Bezos and invited him for lunch, they were engaged after 3 months dating and got married within half a year.
Bezos often credits the success of AMAZON to MacKenziey's support and praises her talent oftentimes. They have 4 children and lived in simple low-key lifestyle; so many people feel pity for their divorce. But sincerity and magnanimity showed in that announcement win some respects. The financial markets, however, were impacted by this news as how much Bezos have to pay for his ex-wife MacKenziey is also related to AMAZON share price.
Analysis think, Bezos as the world's richest guy, his stake in AMAZON is worth more than $130billion, they married in 1993, but AMAZON was founded in 1994, that means MacKenziey may take at most half Bezos' stake in AMAZON, which accounts to $65 billion in assets. So that is also called as the most expensive divorce in history and MacKenziey will the 5th richest people globally. But there are lawyers believe this couple have already reached an agreement on the distribution of property long time ago and Bezos may assure about the stakes distribution will not affect AMAZON.
So, their divorce shocked capital markets though, and made AMAZON shares plunge $22 in the first 10 minutes of the news, its price closed up 0.175 with volatility in closing session.
But because of privacy protection, how much MacKenziey can get from Bezos may be never published, what we can make sure is if Bezos wants to keep the crown of "the richest people in world", he has to make efforts again.
