French Finance Minister: I still believe in ADP privatization plan

PARIS, May 10 (Reuters) - French Fiance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Friday that he still "fundamentally" believed in plans to privatize the country's main airports group ADP , as he sought to play down a possible referendum that could block or delay the process.

"Fundamentally, I believe in this project," finance minister Bruno Le Maire told CNews television, adding that privatizing ADP would cut France's debts and boost the overall economy.

On Thursday, France's constitutional council approved plans for a referendum that could delay or block the government's move to privatize ADP, but Le Maire said he saw the referendum as an "opportunity" for a better presentation of the privatization.

"I see that decision as giving us an opportunity to better explain the project to the French," said Le Maire. (Reporting by Sudip Kar-Gupta; Editing by Richard Lough)
