Japan Q1 corporate capex up 6.1% year/year - MOF

TOKYO, June 3 (Reuters) - Japanese companies raised spending on plant and equipment by 6.1% in January-March from the same period a year earlier, finance ministry data showed on Monday.

The data will be used to calculate revised gross domestic product figures due on June 10.

A preliminary estimate out last month showed Japan's economy surprisingly expanded by an annualised rate of 2.1% in the first quarter as imports fell faster than exports, while household and business spending fell in a sign of weak demand. (Reporting by Tetsushi Kajimoto Editing by Chang-Ran Kim)
