Argentina to remain 'frontier' market in stock indexes -FTSE Russell

NEW YORK, Sept 26 (Reuters) - FTSE Russell held back from upgrading Argentine equities to emerging market status and removed the South American country from a list of possible upgrades after it imposed capital controls earlier this month, the index provider said on Thursday.

Romanian equities will be assigned "secondary emerging" market status effective September 2020, an upgrade from its current "frontier" status, while Vietnam will remain on a watch list for possible reclassification from "frontier" to "secondary emerging," FTSE Russell said.
