The March jobs report was yet another sign that the United States economy is in the middle of a brutal slowdown, but two veteran markets strategists said there are signs that equities could be poised for a rebound later in the year.

Ed Yardeni of Yardeni Research and David Herro, chief investment officer for Harris Associates, were both cautiously optimistic about the stock market on Friday's "Squawk Alley."
