Some of the top activist investors made their cases for changes at companies they've invested in at the 13D Monitor Active-Passive Investor Summit. 

Thursday's gathering featured discussions and investment pitches from billionaire investors Carl Icahn, Jeff Smith and Keith Meister. Icahn also commented on the overall market.
