Bezos helps Washington Post go national with Kindle app
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has plans to introduce the Washington Post, which he bought last year, to a larger national audience with the updated Kindle Fire tablet that's expected to be released this fall.
Amazon is developing a new tablet-friendly format for the newspaper that will come pre-loaded onto new Kindle devices as an application, Bloomberg Businessweek reported.
The app will be free for those who purchase the new Kindle,which is expected to have a larger screen, according to the article. For those with other Kindle models, or owners of Apple and Android tablets, Amazon will make the app available for download—with a monthly subscription fee.

This app is the first bridging between the two companies Bezos now controls and a sign of how the tech mogul plans to update the paper's focus for an Internet-based audience. The Post previously tapped Kerry Lauerman, former editor-in-chief of Salon.com, to helm its mobile initiatives, the article said.
