Google’s next move: Becoming a wireless carrier

Google is moving in on the mobile-phone-plan game, according to technology blog The Information.

The $60-billion-dollar company plans to sell direct-to-consumer voice and data plans as a wireless carrier and deliver on the plans using Sprint and T-Mobile networks.

Talks with Sprint and T-Mobile are ongoing, with a possible launch date of next year, according to the blog.

T-Mobile, Google and Sprint have not responded to CNBC requests for comment.
