Countries with the most millionaires
The U.S. is still the world's millionaire capital — by a long shot.
According to the new Global Wealth Report from Credit Suisse, the U.S. is home to 46 percent of the world's 33.7 million millionaires, compared with 41 percent last year. The report said the U.S. added 903,000 millionaires over the past year, to reach 15.7 million.
China added the second-highest number, 152,000, but still only accounts for 4 percent of the world's total, at 1.3 million. China's proportion was up by 1 percentage point from last year.
After the U.S., the United Kingdom had the second-highest total, 2.4 million, followed by Japan with 2.1 million.
The report said the overall number of millionaires globally declined by 2.4 million to 33.7 million.
The U.S. also dominates the list of the ultra-rich. Of the 123,800 people worldwide worth more than $50 million, almost half are in the U.S.
