Paris attacks ringleader Abdelhamid Abaaoud was implicated in four thwarted French terror plots this year, a minister said on November 19, deploring the fact that no-one had flagged his presence in Europe. Abaaoud was killed on November 18 in a massive police raid five days after a series of deadly attacks on Paris that left 129 people dead and over 350 wounded.

The suspected Islamic State mastermind of the Paris attacks was among those killed in a police raid north of the capital, France confirmed on Thursday, bringing an end to the hunt for Europe's most wanted man.

Authorities said they had identified the mangled corpse of Belgian national Abdelhamid Abaaoud from fingerprints in the aftermath of Wednesday's raid and gun battle in which at least two people died including a female suicide bomber.
