Career change? You can rent a $1.4M farm in Wales for just over a dollar a year
Ever fancied getting away from the hustle and bustle of the big city? If you're fed up with Wall Street and long for the wilderness then this could be the opportunity for you.
The National Trust, a conservation charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, is offering the keys to a £1 million ($1.44 million) farm for just a pound ($1.44) a year.
Parc Farm is located in Great Orme in Llandudno, on the northern coast of Wales. The stunning landscape is home to species that exist nowhere else on earth. However, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes with some major caveats.
Firstly, the tenant will become the farmer at the Great Orme and will need to "farm it in a way that encourages it to recover and thrive."
"We need to find the right person," the press release on the trust's website said on Wednesday.
'We're looking for a tenant who sees a productive farm as one which produces conservation benefit as well as good healthy food," William Greenwood, the Great Orme general manager, added.
As well as having little rent to pay for the first year the tenant will also get a "free flock sheep". The opportunity forms part of new way in which the National Trust is hoping to manage land on a large scale. The farm was bought last year by the organization to help protect the landscape of the local area.
