Cleveland protests could boost at least one local business

CLEVELAND — If the Republican National Convention gets out of hand, at least one city business here could benefit.

Convention organizers expect protests throughout the week as the divisive Donald Trump prepares to accept the GOP presidential nomination on Thursday. Possible arrests could lead people to local bail bondsmen.

Brad Wind, a manager for ABC Bail Bonds near the convention site, said he hopes crowds do not get violent and cause harm to Cleveland's people or businesses. But he admitted that unrest outside the convention could help his business.

"On a business end I hope it does, that would kind of give us a lot of customers, a lot of time to expand," he said.

According to Cleveland police, 58 groups were granted permits to parade, protest or march during the convention, which starts Monday. Protesters and Trump supporters have clashed outside of multiple Trump rallies in recent months.

One person was arrested in Cleveland on Sunday after attempting to steal equipment from an officer.
