Indexes in Asia closed on a positive note on Thursday as a slew of corporate earnings came through and as markets digested the Federal Reserve's decision to leave interest rates unchanged.

Japan's benchmark index reversed earlier losses to rise 0.15 percent, or 29.48 points, and closed at 20,079.64. South Korea's Kospi advanced 0.36 percent, or 8.73 points, to end at 2,443.24.
