U.S. stocks churned lower on Thursday, led to the downside by tech sector, as action in the energy and bond markets slowed and investors monitored the war in Ukraine.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 96.69 points, or 0.29%, to close at 33,794.66 after being positive for much of the session. The S&P 500 slipped 0.53% to 4,363.49. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.56% to 13,537.94.
