Surpasses 75% U.S. Solar Presence

SAVANNAH, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retailer, today officially plugged-in the solar energy system installed at its distribution center near Savannah, Georgia – the state’s largest private solar rooftop array. The 182,300-square-foot PV array consists of a 1,458.2-kW system, built with 6,076 panels. The IKEA distribution center in Savannah will produce approximately 1,973,562 kWh of clean electricity annually, the equivalent of reducing 1,361 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), eliminating the emissions of 267 cars or powering 170 homes yearly (calculating clean energy equivalents at www.epa.gov/cleanenergy/energy-resources/calculator.html).
