U.S. Senate Democrats said onWednesday that Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren, a consumerfinance activist feared by Wall Street, will join the SenateBanking Committee next year.

The Democratic Steering Committee approved committeeassignments for Warren and other Senate Democrats, installingSenator Patty Murray of Washington state as chairwoman of theSenate Budget Committee.
