CNBC's Goldman: Stocks To Watch At CES
CNBC’s Silicon Valley Bureau Chief Jim Goldman is in Las Vegas for the 40th annual Consumer Electronics Show--where some 140,000 people are previewing products from 3,000 companies over the next four days. Our top tech reporter appeared on “Squawk on the Street” to tell us the companies – and stocks – to watch at the conference.
The theme this year is the digital living room, with Bill Gates of Microsoft focusing his keynote address on the topic. A good portion of the tech being introduced revolves around the “home hub,” which is channeling all the user’s communication, entertainment and personal information through the television.
In addition to Microsoft, Goldman says Texas Instruments and IBM are worth watching. Texas Instruments makes digital light processing televisions, and IBM makes the platform for all three of the major gaming consoles from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
On a related note, J.P. Morgan raised its earnings estimate on Apple Computer to 82 cents from 81 cents. This comes despite speculation that the much-anticipated iPhone from Apple won’t be seen tomorrow at the company's MacWorld conference in San Francisco.
