Analyst Likes Foreign Telecoms

Morningstar's director of personal finance sees opportunities for American investors in overseas telecom companies.

Christine Benz told CNBC that BT Group

, the former British Telecom, is an opportunity to acquire a blue-chip stock at a heavily-discounted price.

"It happens to be a stock that our analysts like quite a bit right now," she told CNBC.  "It has struggled due to slowing revenue growth, but our analyst likes what he sees in terms of margins."

Benz also sees opportunities in the French media and telecom conglomerate Thomson.

"This is a stock that has been absolutely hammered," she said.  "It's only for truly intrepid investors, but our analysts think it's very, very cheap right here.  They have looked at the stock every which way, and they cannot see how the stock could be trading at its current value."
