Singapore, 27 August 2008 – CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, is delighted to welcome veteran Australian business and finance journalist, Karen Tso, as its latest addition to the editorial team in Australia.  Karen will be joining CNBC in October, broadcasting from CNBC’s new studio in the centre of Sydney’s financial district in Bridge Street, opposite the ASX. 

Karen will anchor Squawk Australia , a concise one-hour show with the mission of delivering Australian business news to the world, and global business to Australia.  Australia is the first major market to open and sets the agenda and tone of market movement for the rest of Asia.  Kicking off the programming day, Squawk Australia will offer live analysis of the Wall Street close and gear up for the opening bell on the ASX (Sydney) and the TSE (Tokyo). Karen will be replacing Jeffery James, who will be leaving CNBC in October.

Karen will also be featuring in the CNBC Market Updates, distributed on the SBS channel nationally.  Launched on 1 July 2008, CNBC provides 3 LIVE Australian market updates from CNBC’s facilities in Sydney, Singapore and London, via SBS, at 12:55pm, 5:55pm and 10:00pm (AEST time).
