Pops & Drops: CarMax, AMR Corp....

Here are some market movers you might have missed Wednesday—find out why shares of CarMax popped while AMR Corp. dropped.

POPS (stocks that pushed higher)

CarMax (KMX) popped 8%: The largest used car retailer in the US reported second-quarter earnings results that beat Wall Street's expectations. CarMax saw a 13 percent increase in second-quarter revenue. Guy Adami, managing partner of Drakon Capital, would take profits here.

General Mills (GIS) popped 2.69%: The Minneapolis-based food company reported its first-quarter profit increased by 12 percent thanks to rising sales of cereals and snacks. Kanundrum Capital founder Brian Kelly would pull the trigger on this stock right now.

DROPS (stocks that moved lower)

New York Times (NYT) dropped 6%: The newspaper publisher predicted third quarter sales that trailed analysts' estimates.Karen Finerman, president of Metropolitan Capital Advisers, would not be a buyer here. She's afraid of industries that are influx, including print media.

AMR Corp. (AMR) dropped 8%: The parent company of American Airlines said its mainline unit revenues will increase at 11 percent at the most in the third-quarter, which disappointed analysts on Wall Street. Joe Terranova, chief market strategist at Virtus Investment Partners, noted that other airlines are doing better then American and would stay clear of AMR.
