Home Depot'ssturdy fourth-quarter profits have analysts forecasting a bright Spring season for the home improvement market.

Same store sales, or stores open for at least one year, beat expectations with a 5.7 percent rise globally, and 6.1 percent in the U.S. It was the biggest jump in sales since 2004 for the world's largest home improvement retailer.

Brian Nagel, analyst at Oppenheimer, thinks this bodes well for the U.S. housing market.
