Andrew J.M. Spokes is managing partner and chief investment officer of Farallon Capital Management, where he oversees all activities globally. Established in 1986, the firm is a pioneer in the global multistrategy, value-driven approach. It invests across asset classes, seeking to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns through a process of bottom-up fundamental analysis emphasizing capital preservation. Farallon and its exclusive subadvisers have offices in San Francisco, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sao Paolo. It has been SEC-registered as an investment adviser since 1990.
Spokes joined Farallon in 1997 after 10 year in Goldman Sachs' investment banking division. He spent most of that time in Europe and Asia, and when he left the firm, Spokes was an executive director and head of corporate finance for Goldman Sachs (Asia).
He received a master's degree in chemistry from Oxford University.
