DETROIT, Oct 26- U.S. safety regulators are investigating 310,000 Taurus and Mercury Sable cars built by Ford Motor Co over a problem that could cause the throttle to be stuck open. The cars were built for the model years 2000 to 2003 and equipped with 3.0- liter V6 Duratec engines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Oct 26- U.S. auto parts supplier American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc reported a surprise quarterly loss, hurt by restructuring and debt refinancing costs. American Axle reported a net loss of $8.2 million, or 11 cents per share, compared with a profit of $22.6 million, or 33 cents per share, a year earlier.

DETROIT-- Federal safety regulators are investigating some older-model Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable sedans because the throttles can stick. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has 50 complaints about sticky throttles in the cars from the 2000 through 2003 model years. The Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable and are nearly identical cars.
