WASHINGTON, Oct 11- U.S. health authorities said on Thursday that more people than previously thought received possibly tainted steroid injections and that some 14,000 patients could be at risk of contracting meningitis in an unprecedented outbreak of the disease.
BOSTON-- The specialty pharmacy linked to a deadly meningitis outbreak may have misled regulators and done work beyond the scope of its state license, Massachusetts Gov. Ed Markey seized on Patrick's statement, and sent a letter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, asking if it believes it was misled by the company.
On Wednesday, Idaho became the 11th state to report a case of the rare illness, which has been linked to tainted steroids produced by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts. The case in Idaho is the first discovered in the western United States.
BOSTON-- Tax collections in Massachusetts fell short of benchmarks for a third straight month, the state revenue department reported Wednesday, prompting officials to examine whether revenue projections for the current fiscal year should be thrown out.
