It trades futures and over-the-counter contracts on commodities and derivative financial products. Mainly trading with crude and refined oil, natural gas, and other energy products, ICE also operates commodities such as sugar, cotton, and coffee.
Jeffrey Sprecher, the firm's current chairman and Chief Executive Officer, founded ICE in May 2000. The firm became a publicly traded company in November 2005. ICE is valued at a market cap of $8.3 billion.
