TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- As Neutra Corp. (OTCBB: NTRR) works to develop a new, holistic approach to ending alcoholism, time may already be running short for people ravaged by the addiction. New research suggests that alcoholics may be cutting their own lives even shorter than smokers.
In a recent study, researchers in Germany discovered that death rates were 4.6 times higher among alcohol-dependent women and 1.9 times higher among alcohol-dependent men compared to the general population. The mean age of death of the alcoholics followed by the researchers over 14 years was 60 for women and 58 for men—both about 20 years younger than the average age of death for non-addicts.
The study concluded that drinking appears to contribute more to early death than other deadly risk factors such as tobacco use.
“This study is simply more stark evidence that a reliable, effective medical solution for alcoholism is desperately needed,” said NTRR President Michael-Shane Henderson. “Alcohol addiction is a chronic disease that can rob people of decades of living, and the current rehabilitation model of treatment simply isn’t working for enough people. That’s why our company is taking a different approach.”
NTRR is currently working to put new tools in the arsenal of people fighting alcoholism by eliminating addiction cravings in the brain. The company has already engaged potential partners with proven results in successfully helping addicts regain control of their lives.
“We believe that medical solutions are the answer to saving the lives of the alcohol-dependent, and our goal is nothing short of changing the way this disease is treated by addressing the problem holistically: both mentally and physically,” Henderson said.
