DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/hpwqn3/global_overview) has announced the addition of the "Global Overview of the Polyurethane Dispersions (PUD) Market, 2nd Edition" report to their offering.
This new study updates the information included in our previous study published in 2009. Data in this report has been extensively revised through a lengthy programme of interviews throughout the industry during the second and third quarters of 2012. This report contains data on the production of PUDs in 2012 and forecast production for 2017 split by the three major geographic regions (EMEA, Americas and Asia-Pacific). In addition, estimated demand split by end use in 2012 and forecast demand for 2017 is provided for each region.
The total global production of PUDs has been estimated at 266,000 tonnes in 2012, and it is expected to grow by 4.8% per annum over the next five years to reach about 336,300 tonnes by 2017. This growth is driven by the environmentally friendly nature and excellent performance properties of PUDs. Lack of legislation to promote eco-friendly products and the high price of PUDs are hindering the growth to some extent. This is especially true in sectors such as the coatings industry where there are many cheaper alternatives still available.
Most production of PUDs takes place in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region with a total output of approximately 108,800 tonnes in 2012. However, the fastest growth is present in Asia where the production is expected to increase by on average 9.0% annually driven by the growing Chinese production.
This report defines the production and consumption in 2012 along with forecasts for 2017.
Research for this study was carried out in Q2 & Q3 of 2012. Data is provided for the year 2012, in addition to forecasts for 2017.
