GiftCard.com will support Vogel Alcove, a foundation dedicated to helping homeless children succeed by donating $30 towards diapers for needy children each time a customer uses the promo code "HOPE" at the end of their online checkout process.
For 25 years, Vogel Alcove has provided free quality child development services for Dallas' youngest victims of poverty, homeless children six weeks to five years old. Vogel Alcove is the only free comprehensive early childhood education program in Dallas whose primary focus is to provide free childcare and case management for children and their families.
According to the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, in November of 2011, 48% of the homeless in Dallas were women and children. On any given night in North Texas, more than 1,100 children will fall asleep homeless. 66% will be under the age of nine and 31% are infants and toddlers under three years old.
"We initially got the idea to give diapers from Twitter when ClubMomMe tweeted 'a gift card for diapers is priceless'," explains David Jones, CEO of GiftCard.com. "We want to do everything we can to help those around us in need, and giving a donation towards diapers for homeless children will help our North Texas community."
Diapers can be expensive, especially with multiple children, so for the month of November, for every order using the promo code HOPE, GiftCard.com will add $30 to the donation pool at no cost to customers. In December, GiftCard.com will use the donations to buy diapers and deliver them to Vogel Alcove.
"Our goal is to reach a $500 donation. That can purchase approximately 4,000 diapers, which will hopefully generate support and hope to hundreds of families here in North Texas," said marketing associate Kristen Mayo of GiftCard.com.
